What You Will Learn
Participants will learn to speak and listen more mindfully in order to meet their own as well as others needs in their professional and personal relationships. In surveys of employers, families, and friends, open and honest communications is found to be the most important skill for developing successful relationships.

- A brief overview of communication methods and technologies throughout history
- Major differences in communication preferences and methods between millennials, generations X/Y/Z, and boomers
- The importance of the key components of all communications: the sender, the receiver, the message itself, the interpretation and understanding of the message, and the power of non-verbal communications
- Active Listening skills that are critical in order for the receiver to be able to properly understand the message; this includes the skills of reflecting, validating, reframing, empathy and summarizing
- Questioning skills: the benefits and drawbacks of using open, focused, direct, and leading type questions
- How males and females are socialized (showing emotion, being empathetic and displaying nurturing characteristics, etc.) which can lead to communication breakdown between the sexes in their personal and professional lives
